First to Team White
While the focus on Grand Final day is rightly on the players and the thrilling games they deliver, it’s also the perfect time to shine a light on the people who make it all possible: our dedicated umpires. They are the essential "Team White" led by Tammy Irwin and tasked with the difficult job of ensuring every match is played fairly and to the high standard we all expect.
We saw it firsthand over the weekend. With trophies on the line and emotions running high, our umpires were poised, confident, and in control. Their expertise is more than just knowing the rules; it’s about a deep understanding of the game. It's about their positioning and vision to see the play unfold, their quick reflexes and fitness to keep up with the action, and their calm, consistent decisions that keep the game flowing. It’s a tireless job, and they perform it knowing that at the final whistle, only one team and their supporters will be happy with the result! Our deepest gratitude to Team White, without whom a Grand Final day of such high calibre would just not be possible.
A Final Thank You to Our Volunteers
Bringing a season to a close with a Grand Final day that ran as smoothly as ours did is no small feat. It’s a true testament to the tireless and often thankless work of our ONA Committee, ably led by President Dana Standring. They are a group of dedicated volunteers—many of them umpires, players, or parents themselves—who give up countless hours to ensure every Saturday runs seamlessly. They’re the beating heart of our netball community. And a special shoutout to the fantastic PCYC team, Nicky and Rach, who light up the canteen every Saturday, epitomising service with a smile. So, as we reflect on an incredible season, let's offer three cheers for all the Committee, volunteers, and officials who make it happen. We were treated to a wonderful exhibition of netball, but it's thanks to them that we celebrate such a fitting and memorable conclusion
